Guile’s research uses bioinformatics and biostatistics to investigate the human respiratory microbiome. She analyzes metagenomics and metatranscriptomics data to determine how external factors such as air contaminants, seasonal variation, and work environment influence the microbiome.

She also aims to characterize the respiratory microbiome across diverse human populations to gain a comprehensive understanding of the healthy respiratory microbiome on a large scale. Her ultimate goal is to generate practical applications for clinical studies, and to understand the role of these microbial communities in respiratory diseases and viral infections.
