Shruti Sathish

Position: Postbaccalaureate Fellow

Education: BS, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Richmond

Shruti’s research aims to characterize the mechanisms underlying defective influenza virus interference. During replication, influenza virus naturally produces defective interfering (DI) particles. These particles contain viral genomes that are defective due to small mutations or drastic truncations. DI viruses interfere with the replication of non-defective homologous viruses, making them promising antiviral candidates.

Career Goals: Shruti would like to obtain an MD.
